Call the local fire brigades!

Check out the right number for your area. Keep the roads clear and support the fire fighters to find the right way.

Try to suppress (small) fires

Use…

  • a fire extinguisher
  • a thick blanket or a special fire blanket
  • Metal cooking pot lids
  • Buckets of water or sand
  • Bicarbonate of soda (e.g. for burning oil pots)

Always aim at base of fire!

If the fire is too big to extinguish, run to a safe place

Don’t inhale the smoke!

Tell children and elderly where to go

Leave all your belongings

Take your emergency bag but leave all other belongings.

By wetting the surrounding shacks with water you can prevent the fire spreading.
