Discover an ingenious solution to grow your own fresh produce with the Vertical Garden Tower! Perfect for limited spaces, this tower is especially great for crops like spinach.

- Ballast like stones/pebbles
- Manure 6 big buckets
- Biochar 3 big buckets. Biochar works best but if you do not have biochar, you can also use a soil and compost mix
- Hollow container you can prepare it from plastic waste
- Long Straight Stick e.g. from metal or wood
- Net round. We took nets with a diameter of 1 metre and a height of 90 cm or nets with a diameter of 1,5 meter and a height of 70 cm
- Knife
- Pegs
We make our own biochar from the Salvinia Molesta weed. Find the instruction on how to make it on dooiy soon.
How to make it
Prepare an even ground for setting up the vertical garden
Place the hollow container at the centre
Place a straight stick at the centre of the hollow container
Place ballast in the hollow container
Place the net
Put pegs around for stability
Prepare the Soil Mixture
Biochar
Mix of Biochar, Manure, and Soil
Place the mixture of biochar, manure and soil around the hollow container and inside the net
Continue putting the mixture until the net is full
This is how the net looks like after you have filled it.
Pour water in the middle where the ballast was placed until water penetrate around the net
Plant spinach on top of your vertical garden
Make holes in the net and plant spinach on the sides
How you maintain it
Don’t forget to water your tower regularly to ensure your plants stay healthy and happy. After harvesting, be sure to plant new seedlings.
